Oooooo....this is GOOD!!!

Happy Sunday! I subscribe to Christian Woman Today's Daily Devotional and to be honest I hardly read it anymore, but I decided to this morning, because actually I was procrastinating and found this really good devotional. It's a good reminder and I love the quote she gives "Circumstances do not cause your attitude, they reveal what is in your heart." How true is that statement???!!! I know I need A LOT of grace and sometimes I'm so quick to judge & point fingers and think I'm so much better then this person and that person. Anyways, I enjoyed it and I got a lot out of it, I hope you do too! See below for it and find the beauty in today.

GRACE TO KEEP ON YIELDING

Would you like to start the new year by taking an online study?

"For God is at work within you, helping you want to obey him, and then helping you do what he wants" (Philippians 2:13).

We were at a garden market choosing flowers for our garden. For 49 years of our marriage I have always done this myself because my husband was too busy leading the ministry. This year we did it together and I discovered our preferences are quite different. Not that one was better than the other - just different.

My first inward reaction was that my preference would look better. But the Holy Spirit reminded me that this was my husband's garden too. So after discussing various options, we came up with a compromise that satisfied both of us. After planting the flowers together, we agreed the flower garden looked great.

Seemingly little things, that is what life is made up of. How we respond to circumstances can make our life enjoyable or not.

God gave me the grace to yield and not argue. Circumstances in our life keep changing which means we have to change as well. We are unable to change without the Holy Spirit's power. This promise from Philippians has been so helpful to me.

"For God is at work within you, helping you want to obey him, and then helping you do what he wants" (Philippians 2:13).

God helps us want to obey Him and then He also gives us the power to do it.
I thought of a statement Dr. Henry Brandt often used in his talks, "Circumstances do not cause your attitude, they reveal what is in the heart."

How are you doing today? Do you need God's help to change your attitude? He is eager to help you - just ask Him.

Father, thank You for helping us want to obey You and for giving us Your power to change. You supply all of our needs. Thank you. Amen.

Question: Is there an area in your life where you need to change your attitude?

Are you willing to ask God to help you want to make that change?
